Anddd I’m back…

Hi friends! Remember me?

So after a lot of internal debates and struggles I decided that I am going to continue my journey blogging. My hiatus stemmed from one reason: insecurity. I wasn’t sure what my blog would become. As I neared the big 3-0, I felt “too old” to be fashion blogger and quite frankly, felt unfulfilled just posting about outfits and sales.

Don’t get me wrong, while I love love love fashion and beauty, material things are not what is most important to me. Yes, I am a true believer that when you look good you feel good and I will continue to post outfits and things that inspire and/or make me happy. The reality is, pretty things just make me happy and when I look my best, I feel my best. I also love shopping and treating myself, but let’s be real I can’t afford to do it all the time – I have two college accounts that come first!  However, I spend a lot of time looking up beauty tips, tricks, and fashion trends, and I love sharing what I find with others.

Aside from being a huge beauty and fashion lover, I am also 30, a wife, and a working mother of two. My life is hectic, exhausting, and amazing all in one. I am not perfect and I don’t try to be but I do try to always do my best. Cheesy but true. I try to be a good wife, mother, and employee, all while I am trying to still maintain myself. When you find the right person, it really is like a sleepover every night with your best friend. Having a permanent partner, while fun and amazing, also has it’s own set of challenges and I would love to share my experience and/or learn from others. I love hearing about how other couples keep their relationships alive. Being a mother is the most rewarding and challenging title I own. While I am not a pro at being a mom, I do love sharing what I find and love hearing what other mamas are doing as well.

This blog will be about my journey through it all and ways that I find joy, happiness, and other topics that I am passionate about.

Thanks for following along!

Happy Thanksgiving…

Happy Thanksgiving!

So happy it is finally sweater weather! I love being cozy, sweaters, scarves, etc. and I am so thankful that the weather has cooperated! This look is one of my go-to staples and chances are I will be wearing something similar tomorrow! Given that it is Thanksgiving, I decided to write a few things that I am thankful for:

Family – Without them I am really nothing. Literally. That sounds cheesy but everything I do is for them and I cannot imagine life without them!

Friends – As I have gotten older, I have realized that having a plethora of friends doesn’t mean you have meaningful and fulfilling relationships. There is absolutely truth to quality vs. quantity. I couldn’t be more thankful for those who keep me sane and give me strength.

Concealer – Two kids, full-time job, wife, daughter, friend, need I say more?

Flowers – I always have fresh flowers in the house. They make me so happy and give so much personality to the rooms.

Vitamin E Oil – Because I put this stuff on everything. Scratches, chapped lips, under my eyes at night, etc. – my own little magic in a bottle!

Anyways, I know that list is pretty random but those are the things that I am thankful for on a daily basis!

Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for stopping by!

Casual in Chambray…

Happy Monday! I cant believe it is already the middle of November – six more Friday’s until Christmas.. not like I am counting or anything. Anyways, this is my absolute favorite time of year because the weather gets cooler, it gets darker a little earlier, and it seems like everyone is happier!

This chambray dress has been perfect for the tail end of Summer and carrying me into Fall. It can be dressed up or down and is incredibly comfortable. When I first purchased it I wasn’t sure how much use I would get out of it but this has become quite the staple in my wardrobe and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

What are some of your Fall staples?

October Favorites…

If you haven’t gathered by now, I love trying new products and/or adding something new to my routine.

Below is a list of a few things that I have been loving:

unnamed-6unnamed-8unnamed-7unnamed-9unnamed-11

Buxom Hot Toddy – I have been wearing this almost daily as well. Sometimes I wear it alone or over lipliner but I am so obsessed, I am on my third tube!

YSL Black Opium – I purchased this in the sample size because I normally wear the same Chanel perfume every day however, I am so so obsessed with this scent that I am purchasing the full size this weekend {VIB Sale!}. It has the most amazing scent and lasts all day!

Hourglass Ambient Setting Powder – I don’t know why I waited so long to purchase it. I bought it in the summer and have used it almost every day since! I mainly use the two colors on the ends, the middle is a bit too bright for me for every day use.

Laura Geller in Sunswept – Love this color for every season.  It is truly versatile and gives me the perfect glow!

Skyn Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels m- this is one of my favorite eye gels. When I wake and my eyes are a bit puffy, I pop these babies on for ten minutes and notice a pretty big difference! Plus, the cooling sensation feels amazing!

Lanolin Cream – also known as nipple cream.. now this may sound weird but I have been using it in leui of chapstick and wow.. my lips feel amazing. I put it on my lips almost every night and have even gotten a few others hooked on this trick!

Cozy Slippers  – As the temperature starts to drop, I have been living in slippers. I bought these slippers on Amazon and haven’t looked back! So cozy and comfortable and the price point is perfect!

Bath & Body Works in “Leaves”: I saw this candle on a couple of other bloggers social media so I decided to try it out. I absolutely love the way it makes my house smell! It is the perfect Fall candle!

What are some of your October favorites?

Bra-Blems… Solved!

Let’s talk about something that all {most} women wear but is finding the perfect one can be challenging to say the least. Bra’s. There are so many factors that go into choosing the perfect bra. No two breasts are the same which means bra’s fit differently on absolutely everyone and what works for me may not work for you and vice a versa. Needless to say, bra’s have ultimately created quite a few bra-blems for us.

In my twenty+ years of age, I have run into some major challenges when finding the perfect bra. Below is a short list of the major issues that have contributed to my bra-blems:

Weight gain/loss – any type of weight gain/loss absolutely affects my cup and measurement. And as you can imagine, this has been incredibly inconvenient for me these last few years seeing as I have had two kids which means constant weight changes!

Cup gap – this drives me nuts and is probably my biggest complaint. It doesn’t matter how hard I try, I inevitably get some sort of a cup gap. And let’s be real, this looks awful when wearing almost any kind of fitted shirt or dress.

Band is too tight – this is also something that drives me crazy. When wearing any kind of fitted top, I hate seeing the side pudge exaggerated due to a tighter bra. It’s just not cute and something I would rather not have to worry about.

Straps digging in – honestly I haven’t had too much of this issue seeing as I don’t have too much going on in that department, however, I can imagine how painful it can be for those who do!

When I was approached by ThirdLove to test out the bra, I was excited because I had been having severe frustrations on the bra front. The biggest problem for me was the cup gap. It literally dictated what I would wear, especially my work blouses.

unnamed-5unnamed-4

{so true.. the best bra is the one you never think about!}

My experience: I decided to test out the 30-day trial and begun the process by filling out a survey that maybe took 2 minutes. It asked me questions such as my normal band and cup size, any fit issues, bra style, and as a result it suggested the 24/7 Classic T-Shirt Bra.

Upon receiving the email confirmation, I thought it was interesting that it sized down 1/2 cup size. Normally I purchase a “C” and this selected a “B1/2.” Given my curiosity, I couldn’t wait to try it out. To my surprise it was shipped and delivered within days and as a very busy mama, this process couldn’t have been any easier or efficient! I was so pleased with this process.

Having actually tested out the bra now, I am pretty confident that I will be keeping it after the 30 day trial. So far, no cup gap! That was the biggest concern for me because I found that I was incredibly self conscious about it and it would absolutely limit what I wore. Not fun. The bra is incredibly lightweight an has gorgeous details on the straps which gives it more of a fun playful look rather than the boring “mom bra” as my husband calls it.

unnamed

{quick snap of today’s tee, no bra gap showing!}

Why this works: I love the try before you buy concept. In my opinion, a bra is a total investment. Think about it, it isn’t the cheapest and usually when purchasing it we have no idea how much we’ll love or hate it {and usually, I hate it!}. With ThirdLove all you do it pay for the up front shipping and you can try the bra FREE for 30 days from when you place the order {you can even take the tags off!}. If you love it, you can keep it for $68 {totally comparable to bras at Victoria’s Secret and Nordstrom} and if it is not a perfect fit, you can return or exchange it free of charge. That sounds like a pretty fair system to me.

If you are even the slightest unsatisfied with your bra, I highly suggest trying this out because, why not?! It is essentially free minus the less than $3 shipping cost. I would much rather pay that than spend $70 on a bra that I may {and most likely} hate.

If you are interested in learning more about ThirdLove, check them out here! They have also graciously given me a promo code for me readers to use TLBBOCT16 which offers a 15% off until November 15th!!

Also if you’d like to check out the bra page, you can find it here!

Would love to hear if you’ve tried ThirdLove or are interested in it!

Happy Wednesday!

Now that we are well into October, I thought this would be the perfect look to post. October is when Southern California finally sees a bit of a weather change and so naturally we break out our fall attire. But let’s be honest, if this is what I call “fall attire” we’re not doing so bad! Anyways, I love a cute flannel and ripped jeans – even if it just screams “hand me a PSL please!” Since I am only 5’1 I tend to pair heels to most of my outfits but I also think that adding in heeled booties gives it a more feminine and fun look!

What are your go-to’s for fall?

Product Review: Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done

unnamed-1unnamedunnamed-2

Happy Monday!

Let’s talk beauty products, specifically face coverage. I am a huge tinted moisturizer girl – the feeling of foundation is not my jam and I only use when I have to. While I constantly try out new products, my go-to was the ever famous Tinted Moisturizer by Laura Mercier. I had been using it for years and I couldn’t find another product that came in at a close second. A couple months ago I was strolling the aisles of Sephora {shocking, I know} and had been in a makeup rut. On a whim I asked for a sample of Urban Decay’s Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector and knew nothing about the product.

First Impression: When I received the sample, I put it in my bag and had actually forgotten about it. I was getting ready one morning and it fell out of my bag so I thought, “what the heck, I have no where special to be” and tried it on. I mean, if it looked terrible at least no one would see it. Well, I was blown away. It went on so well, blended into my skin flawlessly, and I just loved it. Honestly, it looked like I had the “pretty filter” from Snapchat on my face. While I loved the look initially, the real test was to see how it would hold up during the day.

By the end of the day, my skin still looked pretty good. Obviously not as fabulous as when I first put it on but I will still impressed. It was an instant switch and I started using my little sample daily instead of my holy grail tinted moisturizer. When the sample started to run out, I remember thinking that I needed more ASAP. Thank god for online shopping because I ordered more that day and I have been using it ever since.

Overall: If you’ve read this far you know my overall opinion was that I loved it. The price point is great and I love how natural it is. As a mom of two, I have no time to waste so something that goes on easy and just works is a life saver. As I mentioned before, the coverage is pretty light so if you want something heavier, this isn’t the product for you. If you want something light, easy, and hydrating, I would highly suggest this. I am still impressed with this product and use it daily. And if you are curious, the color that I was matched to was Medium Light.

What are your go-to tinted moisturizers?

Transitioning into Fall…

Happy Monday!

I love everything about Fall – especially Fall fashion. Unfortunately, living in Southern California doesn’t always allow for the use of chunky sweaters, scarves, and other warm accessories. I mean, it doesn’t usually get below 70 degrees. While we do have a few months of cool weather, I typically am in that transition mode for most of Fall. This can easily be done by switching up my color scheme and accessories.

I am a huge fan of easy fashion i.e. a white t-shirt and jeans are my go-to. For this look I felt like getting a little more dressed up so I added a hat, olive jacket, and bold jewelry.

PRODUCT REVIEW: RODAN + FIELDS – REDEFINE {Final Review + A GIVEAWAY!!}

Happy Friday!

I have now officially completed the last bit of my Rodan + Fields trial and I am so excited to share with you all my final thoughts. First of all, wow. I have to admit I was {still am} so impressed by the products. I have mentioned before that I love trying out new products but am easily unimpressed. I would say I am more let down by products than I am impressed – harsh critic I know, but hey! It’s my face so I can be!

As mentioned in my previous posts {here & here}, I was excited to try out the products but wasn’t quite sure what to expect. All I knew what that my skin needed a little {fine, a lot} of TLC. My skin lacked that youthful glow, brightness, firmness, etc., you get it. The point is my skin needed some {major} help.

unnamedunnamed-1unnamed-2

Fast forward to now, without boasting too much, I’d say my skin found its glow. I have noticed a huge difference in my fine lines, tone, and overall color – I have received more compliments about my skin now than ever before.

My favorite product is still the eye cream. This is hands down one of the best eye creams I have ever tried, it could potentially be the best {I just feel like that is too bold of a statement to make!}. In fact, now that I am 100% out, I am counting down the days until my new shipment arrives! Yep, I ordered the entire skincare line again because I loved it so much.
