A little OTS inspo…

Happy first day of Summer! Last night while I was doing a little online browsing, I came across a few tops that I just loved! I am such a sucker for shirts that have detail (typically feminine) on them so when I found these OTS tops with ruffle and pom-poms, I fell in love and wanted to share my outfit inspo!

As I mentioned before, I struggle with wearing off-the-shoulder (OTS) tops when I have my little ones with me. They are just not practical. However, I love wearing them on date nights, girls nights (very rare and much needed!), and other sans-kids activities. They make you feel sexy even if you don’t, hide everything, and I think they are flattering on everyone! I heavily believe that when you look good, you feel good, and think these fun tops are an easy way to look/feel good!

Lace and fringe for the win…

Top: Carlson| Jeans: AG Jeans {and on sale!!}| Bag: Banana Republic {old, similar here}| Sunglasses: Karen Walker| Shoes: French Connection| Lips: MAC Kinda Sexy & MAC Spice Gloss

Hi friends! Sorry its been a little while, life has been a bit hectic but I finally got some time to post! I am so excited to share one of my favorite tops with you. This top is gorgeous and I love the combination of the lace and fringe. It really is a perfect summer and can be easily dressed up or down!

On a totally non-fashion related topic, part of my craziness right now is that I am leaving for a work trip today {headed to Austin, TX!} and I was running around trying to get everything together. Any tips on planning for trips? Would love to hear them!

Thanks for stopping by!

Feeling Floral…

Happy Tuesday! Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial weekend! This weekend went by so quickly and honestly I am not ready for June. June means end of school for my daughter, figuring out our summer plans, camps, sports, and just a ton of madness. Aside from feeling like a crazy lady planning out our Summer activities, I have found that retail therapy has been a real thing lately. I probably find online shopping a little too therapeutic..  In fact, I have even begun asking friends/family if there are any pieces they want me to find because I love shopping for others too!

The trend I have been pretty into lately have been off the shoulder tops {original, I know…}. Or at least I want to be really into them. I love how they look but I have to admit, I find them challenging to wear. I don’t know if this is my own user-error or if this is a common thing, but I do not find them to be practical at all {at least the ones I have tried on} when running around with kids. Between carrying my two-year old, shuffling both kids around, picking up the house, etc, the top part always comes up and drives me nuts!

That being said, the BP top I am wearing is super comfortable and not as challenging as some of the other off the shoulder tops I have worn. I couldn’t find it online but I did see it at Nordstrom’s over the weekend! And these shoes, they are 40% off!! I wear them ALL the time and get so many compliments while wearing them – I highly recommend them!

How did you spend your memorial weekend?

Casual and comfortable…

Top: Anthropologie| Jeans: Anthropologie {old, similar here and here} | Necklace: Made By Mary {with this and this}| Bag: Banana Republic {old, similar here}| Sunglasses: Ray Ban| Shoes: French Connection|

Being comfortable is everything to me. As much as I love fashion, if it’s not comfortable there is a good chance that it is a one time wear and/or very limited use. After I had kids, one of my most worn outfits is some version of a t-shirt and jeans. While this may sound boring, the trick is to find a shirt that has some sort of detail without being over the top or too noticeable. This Anthro top is so comfortable and I love the twist front detail. It is a little bit shorter in the front so I wore it with some high waisted jeans. Having an outfit like this is so easy to dress up or down, another perk for moms {or anyone} on-the-go.

What is your go-to outfit? I am always looking for quick and easy looks!

Stripes with a pop of pink…

Dress: J.Crew| Bag: J.Crew| Necklace: Made By Mary| Sunglasses; Ray Ban| Shoes: J.Crew {sold out, similar here}|

If you haven’t gathered by now, stripes are my thing – nautical stripes to be specific. There are very few striped items that I am not a fan of and really struggle with not buying them all. So it goes without saying that when I saw this dress, I had to have it. I was a little hesitant because most dresses are too long for me {short girl problems} and I hate having to get things hemmed but this dress did not disappoint! The fabric is super comfortable, the cut fit perfect, and I know I will get a ton of use out of it. Plus, I love that slit in the back!

I paired the dress with a pop of bubblegum pink to give it a more fun and playful look. In my opinion, stripes are basically considered a neutral!

Are you just as striped obsessed as I am? What are some of your favorite pieces?

A new way to tell time…

Jeans: Pilco Jeans | Top: Ann Taylor Loft| Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Necklace: Made By Mary| Watch: JORD Watches {c/o}| Shoes: Vince Camuto {on sale!!!}|

It has long been said that you can tell a man or woman by the watch they wear.  A watch is a statement piece. Much like any statement piece, it gives others insight into how you are feeling, and what your intentions are for the day ahead of you.  A timepiece will show your personality and sense of style. A new watch had been on my radar for quite sometime but I just couldn’t figure out what I wanted and/or what look I was going for.

When I first came across JORD watches, I was intrigued and in awe of the wood watch concept but admittedly didn’t think I could “pull it off.” However, after reviewing the stunning time pieces, I came across this beautiful Zebrawood & Champagne watch, known as Frankie 35, and had to try it! It was just so gorgeous!

I love that JORD watches focus on creating watches for the modern individual. Someone who is efficient, values sustainability, and “has somewhere to go, not just somewhere to be.” The minimalistic craftsmanship of the watch is stunning and effortlessly chic. And I love that it is such a unique piece to add to my collection. To my surprise, I found pairing it with my wardrobe to be much easier than I imagined. I can dress it up or down – jeans and a tee or an all black ensemble with leopard pumps. Cheesy, but it seriously goes with everything and the possibilities are endless!

This is such a perfect time to gift someone a watch – whether it be Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, a graduation or just because, a watch is a classic and timeless gift.

Eye-mask obsessed…

I am a mask girl. I love it, it’s my thing, and I am religious about it. Despite my sensitive skin, I love trying new mask in hopes that I will find my new favorite. Despite my eagerness to try masks out, it took me a while to get into the under eye masks and honestly I don’t even know why. Well, it is safe to say that I am now hooked. I use them weekly and think it is absolutely key to looking awake after nights where I don’t have the best sleep {#momlife}. Honestly, I think every mom who needs to look put together should invest in these. Life changing. Below are a few reviews of some of the latest eye patches I have been testing out:

Sephora Collection Pomegranate Eye Mask – I was given one of these as a gift and hadn’t tried it before, so naturally I was excited to test it out. Upon first use, I was immediately taken back by the size of the patch itself – it was huge! But once it started to work its magic I was obsessed and loved how toned, tightened, and  how awake my eyes looked after just one use! And for the price point, $5, I mean you can’t beat it! I will definitely be buying more of these in my future!

Nerium Hydrogel Eye Patch – I was also given this sample by a friend of mine who sells Nerium and has been raving about them for a while. When she offered to send me a sample, I was so excited to try it especially since I hadn’t tried anything from Nerium before. The patch itself was what I would consider “normal” size. It went on so perfectly and the gel is instantly cooling! Given the consistency, I would probably keep my future ones in the fridge for a little added bonus. After 15 minutes I was so surprised that the bag under my eye was visibility reduced, I looked awake and ready to tackle the day. Prior to trying these out, my tried and true favorite was by Skyn Iceland but I think it has met it’s match!

Tarte Pack Your Bags – This was another eye patch that I had seen all over social media and I was eager to try. While I really liked it, it wasn’t my favorite.  After reading a few reviews, I decided to keep in it the fridge prior to using it and while I loved the cooling effect, I didn’t notice a huge difference after using the patch.

If you are interested in learning more about the Nerium eye patches, feel contact my friend Rachel, she would love to chat with you!

What is your favorite eye patch? I’d love to hear your favorites!

A few pick me ups…

Life is a funny thing! There are days I feel like I can take on the world… and then there are days I would rather hide under my big comfy comforter and just not deal it. Whether it is because I am overly stressed with work, the kids, or just in a funk, there are a few ways things that I can either do and/or put on that make me feel 100 times better!

Wearing lipstick. Whether this is a bright, bold color or something more neutral, lipstick really gives me the boost I need.

I don’t wear a ton of eyes shadow, but something I do wear consistently is liquid eyeliner. There is something about a  bold, dark, liquid eyeliner that makes me feel instantly pulled together. Almost like a “try me” feeling.

I am such a scent girl. Depending on my mood or location, I switch around which perfume I put on. Perfume makes me feel empowered and unique as each scent wears differently on different people.

This goes with the pulled together feeling, but having a fresh mani just does that for me. I love the feeling of fresh, clean, polish on my nails. Chipped nails and unkept cuticles drive me nuts so having my nails done is important to me. Lately I have been opting for a gel manicure because it minimized the chips and quite frankly, I don’t have time to keep polishing my nails every couple of days.

I do face and hair masks religiously. I love that nourishing feeling of my skin and hair and I feel like when I am consistent with both, my hair and makeup look great. When I slack with the masks, I absolutely notice a difference.

For The Home

I always have fresh flowers in my house. Whether the colors are bold and vibrant or monochromatic, the flowers bring so much life to the house. I grew up in a house that always had flowers everywhere so I’ve carried that into my own home.

Having a full fridge with healthy snacks doesn’t allow me the option to eat food I will regret later. I find that I operate my best when I am eating the healthiest, exercising, and drinking a ton of water. Sounds like a no-brainer but you’d be surprised how many people don’t. In my opinion, when you feel your best, there is no possible way you cannot exude confidence.

Almost every night I almost have some type of candle lit. I love walking into a room and catching a smell of whatever is burning. This is my own version of aromatherapy and it is incredibly calming and relaxing. Lately I have been really into soy candles as they don’t emit the chemicals and toxins most others do.

Yes, I know that some of these are pretty superficial but as I mentioned before, when I look good, I feel good. This may not be the case for everyone, but it works for me! Would love to hear about your favorite ways to give you a little boost!

Would love to hear some of your favorite tips and tricks!

Anddd I’m back…

Hi friends! Remember me?

So after a lot of internal debates and struggles I decided that I am going to continue my journey blogging. My hiatus stemmed from one reason: insecurity. I wasn’t sure what my blog would become. As I neared the big 3-0, I felt “too old” to be fashion blogger and quite frankly, felt unfulfilled just posting about outfits and sales.

Don’t get me wrong, while I love love love fashion and beauty, material things are not what is most important to me. Yes, I am a true believer that when you look good you feel good and I will continue to post outfits and things that inspire and/or make me happy. The reality is, pretty things just make me happy and when I look my best, I feel my best. I also love shopping and treating myself, but let’s be real I can’t afford to do it all the time – I have two college accounts that come first!  However, I spend a lot of time looking up beauty tips, tricks, and fashion trends, and I love sharing what I find with others.

Aside from being a huge beauty and fashion lover, I am also 30, a wife, and a working mother of two. My life is hectic, exhausting, and amazing all in one. I am not perfect and I don’t try to be but I do try to always do my best. Cheesy but true. I try to be a good wife, mother, and employee, all while I am trying to still maintain myself. When you find the right person, it really is like a sleepover every night with your best friend. Having a permanent partner, while fun and amazing, also has it’s own set of challenges and I would love to share my experience and/or learn from others. I love hearing about how other couples keep their relationships alive. Being a mother is the most rewarding and challenging title I own. While I am not a pro at being a mom, I do love sharing what I find and love hearing what other mamas are doing as well.

This blog will be about my journey through it all and ways that I find joy, happiness, and other topics that I am passionate about.

Thanks for following along!
